Please note: From the summer semester 2020, successful participation in the exercise is a prerequisite for participation in the examination, The number of participants in the exercise is limited. Contents:

General conditions, influencing factors and methods in the planning, execution and control of IT projects are dealt with. In particular, the following topics will be covered:

  • Project environment
  • project organization
  • Project planning with the elements:
    • Work breakdown structure
    • flow chart
    • time schedule
    • resource plan
  • Effort estimate
  • Project infrastructure
  • Project management and project controlling
  • Risk management
  • Profitability analysis
  • Decision-making processes, conducting negotiations, time management.


Learning objectives:

The students

  • explain the terminology of IT project management and the methods typically used there for planning, execution and control,
  • apply the methods appropriately to the project phase and project context,
  • take into account organizational and social influencing factors.

Recommendations:

Knowledge from the lecture Software Engineering is helpful.
