Description

The competence network is designed to make it easier to find relevant experts in the field of materials research by entering keywords and to promote cooperation within and outside KIT. These collaborations are essential for advanced and interdisciplinary research.

Goals of the project:

1. Automated competence assignment: machine learning and text analysis methods will be used to extract competences from publications and assign them to experts. This reduces manual effort and increases the number of recorded experts and data quality.

2. Optimized search function: The semantic search function takes into account not only the keywords entered but also related terms. This results in more precise and comprehensive search results.

3. Dynamic further development: Methods for the automatic expansion of the competence network ensure that newer publications and changing competence focuses are continuously integrated.

The resulting prototype for the KIT Center Materials will be accessible via a website and enables an efficient semantic search for experts and their competencies.
