Description

Sustainable supply chains are increasingly becoming the focus of public debate on climate change. However, there is still a lack of understanding of the considerable production carbon footprint of high-tech devices and the upstream chains of electronics production. The project aims to lay the foundation for effective action to reduce GHG emissions for all three target groups - companies, consumers and policymakers. To this end, the GHG emissions of complex products and supply chains will first be made quantifiable using the example of electronics/ICT. This information is then prepared in a suitable way for the respective target groups and applied: companies can thus derive effective CO2 targets (up to climate neutrality), also with regard to their upstream chains in product development and procurement. Consumers should be able to make more conscious decisions when using information and communication technology. Legislation will be shown ways in which complex products can be given an ecological price.
